Short Film Trilogy
Synopsis
During the research and preparation for the feature film project C-DUR, three short films were created that deal with the time of the lockdowns.
During the pandemic years, people were suddenly confronted with a reality they weren’t prepared for. Life’s certainties and securities crumbled, yet everyday life still had to be mastered amid a barely graspable new reality full of unsettling experiences and situations that etched themselves deep into people’s biographies. All these stories remain untold, have fallen silent, ground down between political camps. But they exist — and so it was our concern to give a voice to the stories of some of the people from this time, as a stand-in for the many.
Unfortunately, we were unable to realize the feature film.

In this mastercut, we’ve combined all three episodes. Embedded in a visual frame narrative around the main character Boris, this version comes closest to the idea of the planned feature film.

I’D RATHER BURN IT ALL DOWN
For 49 years, Joseph ran his pub in Munich. When the bar stands empty day after day during the lockdown, his strength begins to fail him. But this evening, this visit from Boris, might just give him new courage.
episode 2 - ginger
I’M NOT ALLOWED TO SEE MY FATHER
When Ginger is denied the chance to visit his dying father in the hospital during the pandemic, he makes a fateful decision.
episode 3 - georg
DON’T BE AFRAID
After Boris’s neighbor Georg Sporr — old, lonely, and forgotten — dies in his apartment, it leads to a decisive encounter between the two of them.
